Types of stores layout
There are two types of stores layout .they include
- Single storey
- Multi storey
Single storey
It’s the best for large storehouse for the following reason
- The cost per cubic foot of storage space is usually much cheaper
- The weight carrying capacity of an upper floor is always limited by structural considerations
- Adequate ventilation is easier to arrange
- Material handling cost are likely to be less than in a multi storey building where goods have to be transported up and down between floors
Multi storey
The use of multi storey building may be more favourable in special circumstances such as
- Whre the stores are required to serve production or process shop already operating in a multi storey building
- Where land available is restricted in the area or is extremely costly
