- Design of warehouses – in modern times, there is an increasing emphasis on high ceiling warehouses to permit storage of more goods and to make it possible for fork lift trucks and stack cranes.
- Handling of goods – there is widespread use of modern machines in most warehouses e.g. conveyer belts, trucks, forklifts and stack cranes. Computerisation has also greatly helped in monitoring the movement of stock in and out of storage. This has eased handling especially in loading and unloading of goods.
- Storage of goods – most ware houses are using currently designed storage racks that permit replacement or retrieval of goods without distributing neighboring goods.
- Environmental pollution – warehouse owners have come up with methods that are environmentally friendly i.e. recycling of goods. They should also be socially responsible of whatever gets out from their warehouses.
